YHA: purpose-built in 1995, the YHA Manchester enjoys a canal-side location close to the heart of the rejuvenated city centre. Ideally situated for a city break, it's within easy reach of some of the best shopping, restaurants, cinemas, concert halls, museums and theatres in northern England. It's hard to narrow down just what to do but don't miss the Manchester United museum and stadium tour and the Trafford Centre. Premium rooms are available.

Museum of Science and Industry

The Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) in Manchester, England, is a large museum devoted to the development of science, technology and industry and particularly the city's contributions tothose areas. It is an Anchor Point of ERIH (European Route of Industrial Heritage).

Alton Towers

Alton Towers is one the UK's biggest tourist attractions in every way attracting millions of visitors every year. Located in the beautiful grounds of a semi-ruined gothic country house in Stoke near Stoke-on-Trent in the West Midlands, the theme park provides a wide range of activities and adventures to suit people of all ages.

Alton Towers is the home of many of the UK's best known rollercoasters including Nemesis (Europe's first inverted roller coaster), Oblivion (the world's first vertical drop roller coaster), Air, Corkscrew and Rita - Queen of Speed. Young children can enjoy the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ride, visit the Farm or enjoy loads of rides and activities to keep all ages happy including many traditional fairground attractions.

Those looking for a more relaxing time can row on the lake, enjoy beautiful views of the park from the aerial cable car ride, or walk in the scenic gardens.


Day one:

06.45hrs: depart the school
07.20hrs: arrive at the North Wall.
08.20hrs: depart the North Wall on the Stena Adventurer.
11.35hrs: arrive at Holyhead.
14.00hrs: arrive at the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry.
16.30hrs: depart the museum.
16.50hrs: arrive the the Trafford Centre - free-time at the Trafford Centre.
18.30hrs: depart the Trafford Centre.
19.00hrs: arrive YHA Manchester, check-in and dinner.

Day two:

08.30hrs: depart the hostel.
10.00hrs: arrive at Alton Towers.
16.30hrs: depart Alton Towers.
20.30hrs: arrive Holyhead - comfort stop en-route.
21.30hrs: depart Holyhead on Stena Nordica.

Please note that Stena Line will not confirm coach space on the Nordica until two weeks before departure. The alternative sailing is the 02.30hrs Adventurer.

Day three:

00.45hrs: arrive at the North Wall.
01.30hrs: arrive at the college.
